How do I join the Vera Cruz Fire Department?
Joining is easy—just reach out via our contact page or stop by the station. We’ll walk you through the application process, required clearances, and training path to become part of our team.
What are the requirements to become a firefighter?
To become a firefighter, you must be at least 18 years old (junior firefighter programs are available starting at age 14), pass background checks, and complete certified training such as Firefighter I. Don’t have any prior training? No problem—our department will fully fund and guide you through the entire process, ensuring you have everything you need to become a confident, capable firefighter.
Are there ways to serve without being a firefighter?
Yes! We welcome volunteers in administrative, fundraising, fire police, and auxiliary roles—vital support that keeps our department running smoothly.
What kind of training will I receive?
New members receive state-approved and Nationally recognized training through programs like Fire Fighter 1, Basic Vehicle Rescue, and can advance with specialized rescue, medical, and leadership courses.
Is your department paid or volunteer?
We are a volunteer department, proudly staffed by community members who serve without pay but with full professionalism and heart.
How is the fire department funded?
